26/9/7 - Alpha Centauri Vanukas has given birth to a litter of 19 at New World Stud where she is on loan currently. At the point where her litter was ready to go it was decided she would remain at New World Stud. 

8/9/7 - Alpha Centauri Hope put to sleep with respiratory failure. She had a bug soon after her litter and unfortunately this plagued her for the rest of her life with minor snuffles until the end when she just lost condition and went into respiratory failure. She was 18 months old.

18/8/7 - Halcyon Amphitrite put to sleep as lump looking close to ulcerating and lost interest in life. She was 27 months old.

18/8/7 - Alpha Centauri Aphrodite put to sleep as lump close to ulcerating and respiratory problems. Lump suspected in her case to be related to the diet change as she had one removed earlier which seemed to be related to that. She was 21 months old.

30/7/7 - Alpha Centauri Brendan put to sleep. Suspected kidney failure from symptoms. He was 18 months old.

24/7/7 - Alpha Centauri Fionnuala gave birth to 16 kittens. The proud father is Alpha Centauri Tomás.

21/7/7 - Hakuna Matata Ariadne put to sleep. She lost interest in life and eating so kindest thing to do. She was 29 months old.

30/6/7 - Alpha Centauri Chaos put to sleep because of respiratory failure. He had contracted a bug around 18 months old and it had left him with a permanent rattle since. He was 26 months old.

30/6/7 - Alpha Centauri Gráinne put to sleep with adenocarcinoma which reoccurred almost immediately after removal and histology was done from the first lump. Adenocarcinoma's are very rare in rats and probably related to the diet change testing a new rat food for 3 months last winter. She was only just over a year old.

4/6/7 - Alpha Centauri Theseus put to sleep as losing weight and having some respiratory distress. He was 23 months old

12/5/7 - Alpha Centauri Brenna put to sleep as lost quality of life and interest in anything. No real health problems, just old age. She was 26 months old.

2/5/7 - Halcyon Zara gave birth to a massive 18 kittens, sadly one died overnight but 17 survived. The proud father is Asterixin Maajussi.

21/4/7 - Alpha Centauri Hestia gave birth to 13 kittens. The proud father is Alpha Centauri Hebe.

21/4/7 - Alpha Centauri Quinn put to sleep as his respiratory problems came back worse. He was badly affected from a show virus when he was fairly young and never really recovered fully.

17/4/7 - Alpha Centauri Arion put to sleep after an exploratory operation on his bowel area found a cancerous looking tumour at the top of his rectum. It was not possible to attempt removal from this location.

31/3/7 - NFRS Cardiff - Alpha Centauri Guinness - best breeders pet and 4th pet challenge.

28/3/7 - Brock's Scottish Cafe gave birth to 11 kittens. The kittens were agouti, black, topaz and buff.

6/3/07 - Alpha Centauri Cassandra died shortly after operation. Sadly despite birthing fine, Cassandra needed an emergency operation soon after for some sort of hernia/tumour/lump (test results showed Adenocarcinoma) that appeared during birthing and she never came round from the surgery. 3 of her kittens are still alive and being fostered at Milo Stud. Massive thanks goes to Sarah for all her help with the babies.

6/3/07 - Alpha Centauri Viktor put to sleep as his quality of life was deteriorating with an abscess under his ear. He was 27 months old.

2/2/07 - Alpha Centauri Kerry put to sleep. She was just under 23 months old and had deteriorated in a few days with what looked like heart problems. Aside from that she had no sickness during her life and was my first British blue to make gold champion.

31/1/07 - 9 hooded rescue kittens arrive to be fostered by Cara and Hestia. Their dam had died from probable malnutrition and they were rescued from awful conditions. Laura Dobson and Debbie Lauf arranged the transportation and they settled in well with their foster mums.

31/1/07 - Alpha Centauri Jupiter found dead looking like he was sleeping. He was just over 25 months old and had suffered no sickness during his life.

30/1/07 - Alpha Centauri Ernest put to sleep after suffering a mild stroke which took away his quality of life. He was 2.5 years old.

27/1/07 - NFRS Bradford Championships - Alpha Centauri Chance - best black, Alpha Centauri Calypso - best dumbo.

27/1/07 - Ostara Cara gave birth to 14 kittens, sadly one didn't make the second day, but the remaining 13 are all doing well. The proud father is Sparks, a black (probable satin) owned by New World Stud.

24/1/07 - Alpha Centauri Hestia had a long and traumatic labour which resulted in half the litter being born dead. 2 more died overnight and only 4 survived but are doing well. The proud father is Alpha Centauri Atlas.

21/1/07 - Cariad Artúr and Halcyon Zara arrived at Alpha Centauri. Both have settled in well.

20/1/07 - Alpha Centauri Vladimir put to sleep with respiratory distress that looked like potential heart failure. He was 25 months old.

19/1/07 - Alpha Centauri Helen and Alpha Centauri Scylla rehomed to a loving pet home.

18/1/07 - Alpha Centauri Bridget gave birth to 12 kittens. The proud father is Alpha Centauri Guinness.

12/1/07 - Alpha Centauri Ajax found dead looking like he was sleeping, he was nearly 2.5 years old and had never suffered a days sickness in his life.

18/11/06 - Orion's Haven Iris put to sleep. She had had slight respiratory problems for a while which prevented removal of a small lump which started growing. She started to lose condition and her respiratory problems deteriorated and it was kinder to let her go. She was 20months old

12/10/06 - Alpha Centauri Bryg gave birth to one kitten, which she abandoned and Veronica was left to bring up. The proud father is Cariad Corrigan.

12/10/06 - Alpha Centauri Veronica had some birthing problems, but after Oxytocin, she gave birth to the litter. Sadly all bar one were born dead and she didn't start giving milk until sometime during the night. Her remaining baby died overnight, but she raised Bryg's lone baby.

30/9/06 - Alpha Centauri Hope gave birth to 15 kittens, sadly the birthing was quite long and 6 died during or shortly after birth. The proud father is Alpha Centauri Atlas.

25/9/06 - Alpha Centauri Prudence gave birth to 15 kittens, sadly one born dead and another died within first few days. Alpha Centauri Helios is the father.

25/9/06 - Alpha Centauri Helios put to sleep with hind leg paralysis after appearing to have had a fall 2 weeks earlier and going from being a very active buck to being unable to move his rear end at all. There was no response to treatment and care and it was kindest to let him go as his quality of life was deteriorating and he was only eating and drinking with assistance. He was 21 months old.

8/9/06 - Alpha Centauri Pluto put to sleep, after fading over a week to losing interest in everything. He was just under 21 months old.

1/9/06 - Tenaran Frank put to sleep after suffering respiratory distress. It is suspected his condition may have been a result of a virus while he was still in the womb since he was in a litter of 3 and the other two are not the strongest rats either and there was bleeding before they were born. He was just under a year old.

30/8/06 - Alpha Centauri Daphne rehomed to a loving pet home.

11/8/06 - Alpha Centauri Enya and Rivendell Lily rehomed to loving pet home.

10/8/06 - Alpha Centauri Venus found dead. Cause of death unknown, but no illness during life. She was 18 months old.

25/6/06 - Alpha Centauri Bryg gave birth to 8 kittens. The proud father is Alpha Centauri Guinness.

11/6/06 - Valhalla Zephyrus rehomed to loving pet home. He was castrated 3 weeks earlier for aggression towards his cagemates and calmed nicely with them since.

2/6/06 - Alpha Centauri Juno put to sleep because of old age and hind-legs become completely useless. She was 35 months old. Alpha Centauri Adonis put to sleep as his hind-legs had become useless and he was developing sores from dragging them around. He was 28 months old. Halcyon Ceili put to sleep because of hind leg degeneration. She was 27 months old.

11/5/06 - Alpha Centauri Penelope gave birth to 13 kittens. The proud father is Scotratz Poseidon.

6/5/06 - Alpha Centauri Kerry gained her 12th star to become an NFRS Gold Champion and is now retired from showing.

15/4/06 - Alpha Centauri Erin put to sleep after developing some sort of blockage - PM showed peritonitis caused by abscesses in her abdomen. The abscesses were typical of the Corynebacterium Kutsheri type abscesses, which she had miraculously recovered from earlier infection in her lungs of this. She was 19 months old.

3/4/06 - Halcyon Conor put to sleep after developing an abscess under a tooth infection which was impossible to treat and caused serious tooth misalignment. He was 21 months old.

22/3/06 - Southlark's Darla put to sleep with respiratory distress caused by one of her lumps interfering with her breathing. She was 21 months old.

22/3/06 - Alpha Centauri Tasi put to sleep with heart problems and respiratory distress. She was 22 months old

12/3/06 - Rivendell Lily gave birth to 14 kittens. The proud father is Alpha Centauri Regan (owned by Rivendell Stud).

9/3/06 - Alpha Centauri Enya gave birth to a dead litter after a lengthy labour. Enya has made a good recovery from all this.

5/3/06 - Alpha Centauri Flynn passed away - suspect heart problems from symptoms and being overweight plus some permanent damage to his lungs from an earlier infection. He was 18 months old.

4/3/06 - Alpha Centauri Ursula rehomed to local pet home.

27/2/06 - Rivendell Gaia died after birthing failed to progress. She seemed to be ready to pass the dead babies inside her, but was found dead in her cage a couple of days later. PM showed nothing conclusive as to cause of death, but assumed shock from infection is most likely.

13/2/06 - Alpha Centauri Sierra found dead. PM showed nothing obviously wrong with any of his organs and lungs, etc. looked clear and healthy so cause of death unknown.

7/2/06 - Alpha Centauri Viktor had a fatty lump removed from his flank.

31/1/06 - Alpha Centauri Pandora put to sleep as lost quality of life - internal tumours around stomach area. She was 2 years old.

27/1/06 - Alpha Centauri Ursula gave birth to 12 kittens. The proud father is Alpha Centauri Quinn.

23/1/06 - Valhalla Artemis put to sleep with neurological problems and convulsions. Suspected stroke or pituitary tumour - PM non-conclusive. She was 20 months old.

6/1/06 - Shunamite Taras put to sleep with serious breathing difficulties. Bacterial & histology autopsy results showed pulmonary abscessation caused by Corynebacterium Kutsheri infection in his lungs. Virus screening was all negative. He was 18 months old.

4/1/06 - Alpha Centauri Daphne gave birth to the first 2006 litter at Alpha Centauri. She had 11 kittens and the proud father is Alpha Centauri Ajax.

5/10/05 - Alpha Centauri Paris put to sleep as quality of life disappeared. He suddenly seemed old and lost interest in his food and cleaning. He was just over 2 years old.

5/10/05 - Halcyon Aaron put to sleep after several reoccurring respiratory problems in the last few weeks and not responding to treatment this time as his lungs were so badly scarred. He was just over 18 months old. 

21/9/05 - Alpha Centauri Vivienne sadly lost her litter of 20. One of the kittens appeared to be extra large and got stuck causing bad labour and remaining kittens to not survive.

14/9/05 - Alpha Centauri Nemesis, Tenaran Shauna and Asbru Soleil rehomed to local pet home.

3/9/05 - NFRS London Championships Show - Alpha Centauri Erin - best blue & best self, Alpha Centauri Pluto - best guide standard, 2nd stud buck and 4th adult challenge, Alpha Centauri Vladimir - 1st adult AOC self.

1/9/05 - Alpha Centauri Kerry gave birth to 9 kittens. The proud father is Alpha Centauri Paris. Owing to birthing difficulties at Cariad Rats, Kerry is fostering the last remaining kitten from Bethan's litter as well.

29/8/05 - Valhalla Neptune found dead. No obvious cause of death. Visual autopsy inconclusive - no signs of tumours and all main internal organs look ok. There was a little blood in the abdomen, but no sign as to where it had come from, so whether that is related or not is unknown.

17/8/05 - Alpha Centauri Phaedra showed signs of seriously going downhill over a few days and then passed on. Symptoms were slowed heart rate and vet could feel something not right around the area of her liver. Samples of her liver were sent for histology tests and came back as a Histiocytic Sarcoma. This is a common malignant tumour in rats and could happen to any rat and not specifically anything genetic to worry about.

7/8/05 - Orion's Haven Iris gave birth to 11 kittens. The proud father is Shunamite Taras.

4/8/05 - Alpha Centauri Callum put to sleep at just over 28 months old. He had stopped eating and cleaning and quality of life wasn't there.

30/7/05 - Halcyon Myrna put to sleep with respiratory problems in her pet home. She was 16 months old. 

26/7/05 - Alpha Centauri Asha put to sleep at just under 28 months old. She had become very old and seemed slightly senile and stopped cleaning herself and quality of life just wasn't there anymore.

26/7/05 - Alpha Centauri Midas found dead in his cage on the shelf by the food bowl. Vet did visual autopsy and found nothing obvious - all organs looked healthy with no signs of any infection. Suspected could have been heart attack or choking. Midas was perfectly fit and well the day before found dead and had not had any sickness during his life. He was 16 months old.

23/7/05 - Hakuna Matata Ariadne gave birth to 8 babies. The proud father is Alpha Centauri Midas. The surprise in the litter was that both carried roan!

28/6/05 - Milo Carrie rehomed to Jenna at Hakuna Matata Rats to keep one of her oldies company.

4/6/05 - MRC Birmingham show (judge Tony Jones) - Alpha Centauri Erin and her daughters sweep the board! Alpha Centauri Brenna wins Best in Show, Alpha Centauri Kerry wins Reserve Best in Show and Alpha Centauri Erin was Best Opposite Age, Best Adult and 3rd in the Supreme challenge behind her two daughters. Wins also for Alpha Centauri Ciaran as Best Blue Agouti and 4th in the Kitten Challenge and Alpha Centauri Vladimir as Best AOC Self.

31/5/05 - Alpha Centauri Sinead put to sleep with suspected heart failure problems, probably mostly caused by her being excessively overweight for most of her life. She was 20 months old

31/5/05 - Alpha Centauri Genius found dead - no obvious known cause of death, although had been losing weight for a little while now. He was 22.5 months old.

23/5/05 - Alpha Centauri Nemesis gave birth to a litter of 17 babies. The proud father is Alpha Centauri Paris.

30/4/05 - Halcyon Myrna and Alpha Centauri Tamsin rehomed to a loving pet home.

25/4/05 - Artworks Chai put to sleep having experienced breathing problems and all extremities turned white, so assumed heart was failing. He was over 31 months old.

25/4/05 - Alpha Centauri Gimli put to sleep - his back legs were completely useless and he was unable to get about the cage without help. It seemed kindest to let him go at the same time as Chai, his cagemate. He was just under 28 months old 

23/4/05 - Halcyon Ceilí has earned 8 stars now, so is a Silver Champion

23/4/05 - NFRS Spring Cup Show (judges Antonia Robinson & Melanie Goulder) - Halcyon Ceilí - best blue agouti, Halcyon Conor - best blue, Alpha Centauri Vladimir - best AOC Self

16/4/05 - NFRS Cardiff Show (judge Ann Storey) - Halcyon Conor - Best blue and Best stud buck, Halcyon Ceilí - best blue agouti & 4th Adult challenge, Shunamite Taras - best breeders companion and 1st in curiosity competition

11/4/05 - Scotratz Mya put to sleep - large mammary lump and breathing difficulties due to respiratory failure, lump appeared after 2 years old and was slow growing so never removed. She was over 31 years old.

2/4/05 - MRC Willington (judge - Paul Threapleton) - Alpha Centauri Vladimir - Best AOC self, Halcyon Ceilí - best blue agouti and 3rd in supreme challenge and adult challenge.

30/3/05 - Halcyon Niamh put to sleep - in final stages of respiratory failure so helped on her way. She was 24 months old

26/3/05 - Alpha Centauri Erin gave birth to 11 kittens. The proud father is Alpha Centauri Paris.

8/3/05 - Alpha Centauri Oriana gave birth to 16 kittens. The proud father is Halcyon Conor

7/3/03 - Alpha Centauri Arwen put to sleep - jaw abscess and eating problems. She was 26 months old.

4/3/05 - Alpha Centauri Zaneta put to sleep because of lump showing signs of starting to ulcerate. She had 1 large lump and 2 smaller lumps at the end, none were ever removed as they appeared when she was over 2 years old. She was 32 months old.

4/3/05 - Alpha Centauri Elendil put to sleep. Teeth became misaligned about 6 months early and had been trimmed with no problems, but teeth had become brittle and had started to split when trimming which was causing a lot of pain to Dil so kinder to lay him to rest. He was 26 months old.

26/2/05 - Alpha Centauri Nemesis gave birth to 17 kittens. The proud father is Rattenfänger Ruodrik belonging to Julie Oliver (Valhalla Stud).

19/2/05 - NFRS/MRC Olney (judge - Alison Campbell) - Halcyon Conor - best blue & best stud buck, Alpha CentauriHelios - Best New Variety, Alpha Centauri Vladimir - Best AOC self, Halcyon Ceilí - best blue agouti & 4th in adult challenge,

7/1/05 - Alpha Centauri Nikita put to sleep because of facial abscess not responding to treatment. She also had a mammary lump at the end and had already had one removed. This line has not been continued and all her kittens have not been bred from. She was 27 months old.

7/1/05 - Tennyson Zeus put to sleep - pneumonia. Had been treated a couple of times for myco and never really lost the rattle. Assumed quite a lot of lung scarring. He was castrated after an accident in the cage as a youngster and lived with does most of his life. He was 20 months old.

Rehomed rats in 2004

Shunamite Ruth returned to her breeder for a possible second litter, which in the end didn't happen.

Alpha Centauri Thalia and Rivendell Iona were rehomed to a loving pet home locally.
