Details: It is a bit of a miracle really that Chance survived really. On the same day as Bryg gave birth to one baby and decided she didn't want to know about being a mum this time around, Veronica had birthing problems and gave birth to a mostly dead litter with only one live baby. Veronica initially had no milk, so I was left with a decision to give her Bryg's baby and hope for the best knowing that if she didn't lactate, at least the babies would die warm and loved. Overnight one baby died but the other had a lovely fat milkband, so she must have started lactating during the night. Until Chance's type started to come through, I wasn't clear on which baby of the two had survived, but her blackness and general type is too different from the other rats in Veronica's line so she has to be Bryg's. She is a stunning baby and has grown into a nice adult. Chance has done well at both variety and pet showing, but has other ideas about being a mother and has not got pregnant despite several attempts.
